Frequently Asked Questions...
SEGWAYS
What is a Segway?
The Segway is a self balancing transportation device designed for one person. It has a top speed of 20 kilometres per hour. It is battery powered, electronically balanced, with a zero turning radius and no emissions. From a standing position, all movements are controlled by simply leaning slightly in the direction you want to travel. Not only is it smart and effective transportation, but more fun than you can imagine!
Why doesn't the Segway fall over?
Five gyroscopes, two tilt sensors, and an array of electronics make adjustments 100 times a second. The Segway remains balanced electronically--you do not have to self-balance from front to back, even over rough or uneven terrain. Remarkably intuitive and usually easy to learn for anyone. Feels like magic, but it is technology in action. The only way you could even begin to fully appreciate the wonder of the Segway is to try it for yourself.
How long does it take to learn how to ride?
Within minutes...it’s that easy. It will be among the fastest activities you've ever learned. Within minutes of first stepping on a Segway, you will have a basic feel for its intuitive operation. We'll teach you how to ride before you commence activities and you will be supervised throughout. With proper training and some practice, better riding ability will soon develop.
Who can ride a segway?
Riders must stand at least 110cm in height, 12 years old and weigh between 45kg and 125kg. The weight of a rider is most important, as this determines the Segway’s response to weight distribution and movement. Since you are going to be on your feet during our tours, you must be able to comfortably remain on them for no less than two hours and capable of continuously making minor shifts from front to back and side to side, with knees that can bend slightly. Your ability to safely control a Segway will be assessed during the training phase of your activity. If our trainers assess that you are not safely able to control the Segway, you will not be able to take part in further activities.
Can I fall while riding a Segway?
Yes. While the Segway balances for you, it is still under your control and relies on you to control its direction and speed. You must practise your skills and know the limitations of your riding ability and the Segway. As with any moving device, you must ride with care and always as remain observant to avoid hazards and collisions with obstacles.
Can the activities be undertaken outside normal business hours?
Yes. We can provide these activities at all times of the day, provided a safe level of light is available. The activities can even be provided after dark, as long as a suitable source of artificial light is available.
Where can we ride the Segway?
There is no limit to an area a Segway can be ridden. We have facilitated groups on small resort roof tops, to 100 hectare vineyards. A Segway xperience can be customised to your available area, whatever the size.
What do we need to wear?
Participants are required to wear closed in shoes, but apart from this we simply recommend comfortable attire. East Coast Xperiences provide protective helmets as part of the package.
GIANT HUMAN FOOSBALL
What is Giant Human Foosball?
Essentially, it is a 25 metre x 15 metre giant inflatable soccer field. There are goal nets at either end, surrounded by a 1 metre inflated wall. Each participant puts on a waist harness and is connected to a rope to allow left and right movement only, replicating the controls on a foosball table. The game is played in an identical fashion to its diminuitive cousin; teamwork is paramount in order to score a goal against the opposition. The high inflated walls mean more playing time and less time chasing the ball.
How many players do I need?
Giant Foosball is suitable for all group sizes; we will accommodate to your group numbers. This is not only a great game for those participating; spectators will have almost as much fun as those playing!
Who can play?
You need to be at least 10 years of age. Players have to be physically able; however, fitness is not a pre-requisite.
Where can it be played?
Almost anywhere! We need an area the size of a tennis court. And yes we have played Giant Human Foosball on a tennis court. It is great on sand or any non-abrasive surface.
LASER CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING
What is Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting?
Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting is a sport which can be enjoyed by everyone. The players use a modified shotgun to fire an infrared beam at clays launched from a conventional clay launcher whenever a trigger is pulled, the Laser sport control module/scoreboard generates the shotgun 'bang' and when a player hits the target it reproduces the sound of a breaking clay. An indicator on the gun instantly tells the player whether he has hit or missed the target and spectators and players can see the score of each player on the large electronic scoreboard.
How is it played?
It is played with authentic but deactivated 12-bore shotguns, each system having 5 guns and a control module/digital scoreboard. Incorporated in the guns is a dedicated microchip which controls the infrared beam fired by the guns. Each gun has an individual radio transmitter which sends information to the control module, which reproduces the realistic 'bang' and works out the scores and displays them on its large integral scoreboard.
Where can it be played?
The laser sport system can be a permanent feature indoors or outdoors; or, as the system will fit into a family car it can moved easily from venue-to-venue, so that laser sport can literally be played anytime, anywhere. Laser sport systems are operated at clubs, hotels, leisure centres, theme and amusement parks, pubs, cruise liners - anywhere people go for leisure and entertainment. For use outdoors, a minimum area 30 metres x 10 metres is required to enable the clay to fly and land. It can also be done from the back of a boat!
Is it Safe?
Absolutely safe. Not only is shooting environmentally safe, Laser Clay is the only shooting sport you can enjoy knowing that there is absolutely no harm to the environment. Laser guns fire a harmless infra-red beam at reusable clays - and even the sound is totally controllable. As the guns are deactivated there is no danger to participants or spectators, and even young children can play Laser Clay Shooting in total safety.
Who can participate in Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting?
There are no age restrictions. Laser sport can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It can be played just for fun, or as a serious competition with people participating as individuals or as part of a team. As with any sport, there are different levels and classes of Laser sport, meaning it can be played by everyone. The weight of a gun is approximately 5kg. So if you can hold up a gun, you can play!
