That’s right, East Coast Corporate & group Xperiences and The Hunter Wetlands Centre have joined forces - and we have a fleet of X2 off road Segway PT’s ready to go! They are even fitted with turf tyres similar to golf carts to prevent damage to the enviroment.

Escape the everyday and discover the magic of the wetlands at Hunter Wetlands Centre Newcastle. Just 10 minutes from Newcastle’s CBD, this incredibly diverse 45 hectare guided tour will open your eyes to what is one of the most important Egret breading gounds in Australia. Not to mention reptile and baby croc enclosures. And if you know your Ducks, the Hunter Wetlands houses the oldest duck breed in the world - the Freckled Duck.   

These state of the art vehicles go anywhere, anytime. A Segway will travel over any terrain thrown at it; Therefore merge an eco friendly personal transporter with abundant wildlife and a diverse natural habitat. And you have on your hands, a very unique and inspiring adventure!

The Hunter Wetlands Centre Segway ECO Tour is a mixture of interesting and challenging wonders, best Xperienced on a Segway. A guide will lead you on a Xploration of the natural habitat, over diverse and ever-changing trails.

Thing to consider-

  • Bookings are essential. Please phone the wetlands - (02) 49 51 6466
  • Allow at least 1.5 - 2 hours for each tour. 
  • Tours times are 10.30am & 1.30pm Saturday's and Sunday's depending on tour numbers. Private tours can be arranged during the week on short notice.
  • Minimum 4 and maximum 8 per tour.
  • Must be a minimum of 12 years old.
  • There is no maximum age. The record so far is 83 years old. Therefore if you can stand up, you can ride a segway!
  • Must be a minimum 38 kgs and maximum 120kgs.
  • Must wear flat soled shoes.
  • Safety helmet will be provided.
  • Prices per person is $65. Includes entry into the Wetlands.
  • Cafe Nurish is available for breakfast, lunc h and has great coffee! 

What to expect-

  • Meet on the downstairs deck after checkin at the front desk.
  • Meet and greet your guide and fellow segway adventurers.
  • A 10 minute information DVD and segway brief will be viewed in the theatrette.
  • The tour party will be individually instructed on a flat grassed area ( 30 seconds is all it takes!)
  • Once everyone is comfortable riding a segway, the tour moves off to discover the wonder of the wetlands.
  • There will be 3 short stops along the way w hich include amazing bird sanctuaries, dinosaur ducks....the world's oldest and endangered freckled ducks, and for the ones looking to challenge themselves on a segway, the.........you will just have to come on a tour!
  • And for the summer months, we will supply sunscreen, but please bring a water bottle. We have a convenient water bottle holder attached to every segway.
  • Also expect to have the best fun your've ever had on two wheels!
